Important Webinar Details

  • Includes access to the recording of the webinar workshop as well as downloadable PDF slides
  • The workshop will consist of a ~60 min lecture, 20-30 min case review and discussion, followed by 10 min Q&A period
  • There will be no refunds issued for the webinar

Workshop Overview:

GLP-1 (Glucagon like peptide 1) receptor agonists and dual incretin mimetics (e.g., semaglutide, tirzepatide) have surged in popularity across metabolic medicine, diabetes care, and obesity management. At the same time, interest in psychedelic-assisted therapies is accelerating, with psilocybin, MDMA, and other agents gaining popularity for mental health conditions.
But here’s the challenge, GLP-1s fundamentally alter gastric emptying and satiety. This can lead to shifts in the pharmacokinetics of co-administered drugs or medications, and therefore pharmacodynamics of the subjective effects, of orally administered psychoactives. For persons guiding patients in mental health contexts whom are approaching psychedelics, understanding these intersections may be critical to optimizing subjective effects and subsequent benefits of experiences.

In this webinar our formal learning objectives are to:

  • Describe incretin mimetic pharmacology with a focus on GLP-1 receptor agonists
  • Define pharmacokinetic drug interactions and their impacts of pharmacodynamics of various medications
  • Examine how GLP-1 receptor agonists could impact effects of various psychedelic substances
  • Review case studies and clinical approaches to management of GLP-1 agents in the context of psychedelic use
